Jacquelyn and I received an extra special surprise in the mail yesterday from J.Crew. In a regular cream envelope, with small words that read "(Don't miss what's inside J.Crew)" on the back, there was a $25 reward card. Inside (which is shown in the image above) explains that J.Crew is offering $25 (with no restrictions or minimums) towards the next purchase (either at their stores or online by 10/15/08) for their "favorite customers" who they "wanted to thank ... with a special treat". (Jacquelyn also pointed out that J.Crew implies in the card that we should get a J.Crew credit card to receive reward cards like this. Sidenote: neither Jacquelyn nor I are card members.)First and foremost, I am thrilled to have received this gift from J.Crew. {So "thanks!" goes to J.Crew!} I really feel lucky to get this (especially since I did not expect it at all). Second, I am a bit curious why I was sent this and who are getting these. Is J.Crew sending these to customers who have experienced online order issues (which both Jacquelyn and I have)? Are they sending these to customers who don't have J.Crew's credit card (in hopes that customers will sign up)?
Update: A J.Crew employee (Anonymous at 7:08 AM in this post) let us know the reasoning: "[Are they sending these to customers who don't have J.Crew's credit card (in hopes that customers will sign up for one)?] Hi, I'm a J. Crew employee and I just wanted to let you know that this was the reason you received the mailing. ..."
Update2 (on 9/13/08): J.Crew has been sending these out in staggered weekly intervals. Also, they have been sending customers different reward cards amounts (either $25, $50, $75, and as much as $100!) :)
Did you get one of these cards in the mail as well? (If not, you may be getting one in the next couple of days.) If you did get one, how are you planning to spend that $25, $50, $75 or $100? ;)
